How long do you have to wait to get pregnant after having Lap-band surgery? I am currently trying to conveive, but am thinking about getting back on bc and having lap-band. I have had one miscarriage, and really want a baby, but at the same time I want to be healthy. I don't want to have to wait for a long time after surgery. Also for those that have had surgery done, how long does it take after you go for consultation to get surgery done. Thanks

What health insurance companies cover the lap band surgery? My BMI is 33.7 but I am 100 pounds over my ideal weight. I also have hypertension. The medications that I am have caused me to gain this weight within the past 6 months. My doctor has advised me against quitting them. I cannot afford the lap band surgery. Any suggestions on how to fight my insurance company so they will pay for gastric lap-band surgery? I have decided that I would like to have gastric lap-band surgery. Over the past 15 years my weight has yo yo-ed and I cannot seem to maintain the weight I lose. Please refrain from lectures on healthy living, diet and exercise. I've found is positive, reporting that it's very safe, very effective, and that those who have had lap band surgery are glad they did. How can I self-finance lap-band surgery with bad credit? I am 23 years old and around 150 pounds overweight. My insurance will not cover the lap-band surgery because it deems it to be cosmetic. My wife had lap band surgery and she is having severe pain in the leg? My wife had lap band surgery and is doing great, but she said at night she is numb in the upper part of her leg. She tries to roll on her side and ease the pain, but after a while it starts hurting again... basically the pain wont go away. How do I get insurance for lap band or bypass surgery if my insurance company has turned me down.? My insurance company will not cover lap band surgery for me (or gastric bypass for that matter). I have been overweight for years, have sleep apnea, sore knees, and the necessary BMI to qualify. Even the hospital that would do the surgery has told me that they turned them down. Paying for it myself would be out of the question. My company has been using this insurance company for years and years - I do not see them switching carriers in the near future. Is there any way I can get this surgery done? I feel the pros far outweigh the cons.

Also, what kind of pain and such did you have after the surgery? How long till you felt like resuming your normal activities? The information packet I was given is quite vague. In other areas it gives specific time lines. I am wondering what experiences others have had. For instance, it says don't drive for 5 days? I am planning to go back to work on the 5th day after my surgery and I drive an hour to get to work. Am I expecting too much? What about taking stairs and various other activities?

I am at least 100 lbs overweight and live every day of my life in pain from arthritis in my knees, ankles, and hips. The problem is, lapband surgery is $10,000, and gastric bypass is more. Did anyone else have lots of shoulder pain after lap-band surgery? I just had lap-band surgery a few days ago and my shoulder hurts so bad I cannot believe it. I am not wimpy about pain either. I have had two really difficult labor and deliveries and nothing compared to the pain I am having in my shoulder right now. I have put hot pads on it, taken pain meds, put icy hot on it, nothing helps. Did anyone else have this pain? What did you do to cope with it? Also, how long did it last? Please tell me it goes away quickly.

Question about Lap Band Surgery and age? Have any of you women personally had the lap band procedure at an age of around or over 50? And, have any of you had the surgery a long time ago? I am 52 and am about the last overweight person I know. It seems that 'everyone' else has had, or are going to have the lap band procedure. Of course, I've tried everything to lose weight, but am just not able to control my appetite for a period of time. So, my questions are about women who have had the surgery at a late age, as myself... and also would like to hear from women who had the lap band surgery a long time ago -to see how things are going after a long period of time... women and men!
Is having lap band surgery really the answer? My husband is extremely overweight and has some heatlh issues. I really do not want him on Atkins but he feels that is the only diet that works. He takes cumadin so he has to watch that certain foods do not interfer with the medicine. I am going to try weight watchers but if that fails is the lap band the best alternative. his heart beats in afib.

Considering Lap Band Surgery - has anyone heard of deaths related to this surgery?.? Okay... the deal is... I'm fat. But I'm not so fat that I qualify for insurance to cover the procedure. I am, however, obese. So, I am able to get the Lap Band... but I will have to pay for it. I think I am going to do it. I have a beautiful 4 year old. Elective Lap Band Surgery - BMI 29? My BMI is only 29 (Must have BMI of 40 to qualify for the procedure) , but I would like to have the lap band surgery..I will be paying for the surgery out of my own pocket - are the BMI minimum numbers to have the surgery written in stone? I'm not morbidly obese, but have been a yo yo dieter for years, and as such my weight has gone up and down since I was a teen - (120 - 180 - 140 - 175 - 130 etc....) Question about Lap Band surgery? I am considering Lap Band surgery as my insurance (UHC) covers all but 150.00 copay. The only thing is I am nervous about this. I have been overweight my whole life. My doctor is having me take Adipex but I know this is a permenant solution as Adipex only kills your appetite and once I stop I will resume eating. But I have read online that people easily get sick and vomit with lap band and they are having all sorts of pains. Now I dont know anything about these people but I wanted to get some answers from others. How much weight have you lost and at what rate? Also is it painful and do you get sick often?

Lap band surgery? I had the lap band done 3 weeks ago and scheduled for a fil in 2 weeks. Since the surgery I have not had that "full" feeling. I have had some pain when I eat to fast or not chewed it enough. Is it normal to not have that full feeling. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it just that I need a fill?

Any advice: Lap Band Surgery? I have a friend that is getting lap band surgery, but in my heart I cannot support her. She is 20 years old and has been fighting her weight problem most of her life. She once had lost about 40 lbs (with the help of diet pills). But because we are in college and eat fast food all the time she gained the weight right back. She has always had self-esteem issues & I honestly think that she doesn't love herself. She has never had a boyfriend & thinks that no one will ever want her b/c of her size. I tell her that self-confidence plays a big roll in guys liking her. My fear is that she is having the surgery for the wrong reasons. I know she can loose the weight if she stuck to a strick diet and exercised reguarly. My whole question is: What do you do when your heart is telling you this is the wrong thing, but you are tired of giving advice to a friend who doesn't listen? I believe that surgery will not cure self-dislike in the long term.

Question about lap-band surgery.? I am very interested in getting the lap-band surgery. Both for my overall health and to help alleviate severe back pain that resulted from a car accident. I already know that I'm a good candidate for the surgery and there are several good surgeons in my area (Tampa, FL). The problem is my insurance refuses to pay for the procedure even though it is medically neccessary and I can't afford to pay for it out of pocket.
