Information on Glaucoma Bleb Cosmetic Surgery?

I had a few questions regarding Glaucoma. I have Glaucoma in my left eye, and had to have surgery on it (complete with a bleb) in 2004. Ever since, my left eye appears smaller and a bit more off than the right (pre-surgery, my eyes looked extremely symmetrical). Does anyone know of any cosmetic eye surgery that would help change the appearance of the left eye (with the bleb) so that it looks normal again?

  1. Unfortunately the bleb is permanent. If you want to make them symmetrical wait to get a trabeculectomy on the right. It could happen, unless your glaucoma is completely under control in that case sorry you eyes are no longer symmetrical, but at least you still have some sight.
  2. Most often, the eye with the bleb looks smaller because the eyelid is pushed down a little bit. You can have it raised, a procedure called ptosis repair, as long as there is room to lift the lid without exposing the bleb. (No Dr. would ever do a trabeculectomy on the other eye for cosmetic reasons). You need to see an oculoplastic specialist to discuss your options.
