Question about Lap Band Surgery and age?

Have any of you women personally had the lap band procedure at an age of around or over 50? And, have any of you had the surgery a long time ago? I am 52 and am about the last overweight person I know. It seems that 'everyone' else has had, or are going to have the lap band procedure. Of course, I've tried everything to lose weight, but am just not able to control my appetite for a period of time. So, my questions are about women who have had the surgery at a late age, as myself... and also would like to hear from women who had the lap band surgery a long time ago -to see how things are going after a long period of time... women and men!

  1. I had lap band in August last year. I was 58 years old when I had it done. I have lost 50 pounds. It is not the cure all. You have to work at it and be very committed to it. If I had to do it all over again, yes I would. Good luck in your quest for a healthy you!!!!
  2. Hi, I work in health care and have seen many women and men who have had the lap band surgery with amazing results. There seems to be very few complications and all seemed pleased with the procedure itself. My oldest patient is 62 and is thin, well a size 12, for the first time in her life. She had the procedure done when she was 57 in mexico. It was not available in the states at that time. She lost the weight and has kept it off. I am planning on the surgery for myself next weekend. I wish you luck, and let me know how you are doing and if you have it too. We can compare notes!
